ERT's roots in the environmental industry date back to the late 1970s, when our founder began working in the asbestos industry as one of California's early licensed asbestos abatement contractors. During the 1980s, the focus transitioned away from abatement and toward environmental inspection, testing, and consulting—not only for asbestos, but for a growing range of environmental and indoor air quality concerns.
Our history in the San Francisco Bay Area runs deep. Although company names and operations evolved over the years, that experience ultimately became Environmental Remediation Technologies, or ERT, in 1997.
Since then, ERT has performed thousands of environmental inspections and testing projects throughout the Bay Area. Our clients have included homeowners, buyers and sellers, real estate professionals, contractors, property managers, tenants, school districts, commercial property owners, and government agencies.
ERT provides environmental inspection, testing, and consulting services for both residential and commercial properties. We understand that every property and every client's concerns are different. Our services are therefore designed around the specific conditions of the property rather than a one-size-fits-all testing approach.
Our goal is to provide the appropriate level of investigation needed to answer your questions without recommending unnecessary testing or services. Pricing is explained upfront whenever possible so clients understand the anticipated cost before work begins.
We strive to keep our pricing competitive with other professional environmental consulting firms while providing a level of experience, personal attention, and technical guidance that can be difficult to find elsewhere.
ERT performs inspection, testing, and consulting only. We do not perform asbestos abatement, mold remediation, demolition, or other corrective work related to the conditions we evaluate.
That separation is important.
Because ERT does not profit from remediation or removal work, our recommendations are based solely on the conditions observed, laboratory findings, applicable regulations, and the needs of our client.
Our responsibility is to identify and evaluate potential environmental concerns and provide practical, unbiased guidance regarding what should—or should not—be done next.
ERT is a small environmental consulting company by design. Our clients receive personal service from highly experienced environmental professionals rather than being passed through multiple departments or assigned to an inexperienced field technician.
We approach each property with the same care and consideration we would want for our own homes, businesses, and families. We do not believe in using fear to sell unnecessary environmental testing. Environmental concerns such as asbestos, lead, mold, water damage, and indoor air quality can already be stressful enough. Our role is to provide clear information, reasonable recommendations, and an objective understanding of the conditions present.
Collecting a sample is only one small part of a proper environmental investigation. The quality of environmental testing can depend heavily on the experience of the person determining:
Laboratory data without proper field investigation and professional interpretation may provide numbers, but it does not always provide answers.
At ERT, field services are performed by environmental professionals with a minimum of approximately 30 years of industry experience. That experience allows us to evaluate the entire situation rather than simply collect samples.
ERT reports are site-specific and designed to provide meaningful guidance.
When a potential problem is identified, we do not simply forward laboratory results and leave the client to determine what they mean. Our reports explain the findings in understandable terms and, where appropriate, provide practical recommendations for additional evaluation, repair, remediation, maintenance, or other corrective action.
Our objective is to help clients understand:
What was found.
What it means.
Whether action is necessary.
And what should happen next.
ERT works with experienced, appropriately accredited and certified analytical laboratories to help ensure that samples are analyzed using recognized methods and that laboratory results are reliable and defensible.
Environmental testing should provide answers—not create more questions.
Choosing a consultant based solely on the lowest testing price can sometimes become more expensive in the long run if the initial investigation is incomplete, inappropriate samples are collected, or the findings are not properly interpreted. ERT is committed to doing things the sensible, thorough, and ethical way the first time.
Our philosophy is simple:
Provide the appropriate service.
Perform it correctly.
Explain the findings clearly.
Recommend only what is reasonably necessary.
And provide our clients with the best service and value possible.
Since 1997, that philosophy has remained at the heart of ERT.
